Helping Roman Catholics Understand What Sola Scriptura Actually Means and Doesn't Mean

Image
The Roman Catholic institution has its attempts to debunk the teaching of Sola Scriptura. How do Roman Catholics understand Sola Scriptura is  very  important.  Catholic Answers  is among the many Catholic pages that speak against Sola Scriptura. How do they understand it? In the article " A Quick Ten-Step Refutation of Sola Scriptura " by Dave Armstrong would you give you the following reasons: Sola Scriptura is not taught in the Bible The "Word of God" (referred here as Scripture) refers to oral teachings also Tradition is not a dirty word Jesus and Paul accepted non-biblical oral and written traditions The apostles exercised authority at the Council of Jerusalem Pharisees, Sadducees, and oral, extra-biblical tradition Old Testament Jews didn't believe in Sola Scriptura Ephesians 4 refutes the Protestant "proof text" Paul casually assumes that his passed down traditions were infallible and binding Sola Scriptura is a circular position Again, I was ...

Total Depravity and Taking Verses Out of Context

My journey to Calvinism or TULIP is a long way. Charles H. Spurgeon, a preacher admired by both Calvinists and non-Calvinists alike, said that Calvinism is but a nickname. The term came centuries after John Calvin died. Some non-Calvinists still respect Calvin. As said, I go with what the Bible says and not what Calvin says. Calvin believed that Mary remained a virgin throughout her life. However, studying the doctrines of grace during the COVID-19 pandemic (2020-2022) gave me better insights. That's especially with the Total Depravity of humankind.

Roman Catholicism as Mystery Babylon

Image
The Roman Catholic institution claims herself as the "one true Church founded in 33 A.D." However, the inconsistencies of Roman Catholicism can make one ask, "Is she truly the Church founded in 33 A.D.?" The Roman Catholic institution claims that the Popes are Peter's successors, that it gave the world the Bible, and that it's supposedly the Bride of Christ. However, many Baptist and Protestant theologians have come to believe that the Whore of Revelation, Babylon the Great, could be the Roman Catholic institution . Why? It's because Roman Catholicism poses as the true Church, but she's a harlot . The description in Revelation 17 goes this way, to describe the Harlot: Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came to me and said, “Come, and I will show you how the famous prostitute is to be punished, that great city that is built near many rivers. 2 The kings of the earth practiced sexual immorality with her, and the people of the world be...

Baptists and Protestants Rediscovering the Church Fathers

Image
Here's a funny meme by Cool Catholics Facebook page. Unlike my old Papal Busters page (which is full of retired research ), I decided to look into the rich history of the church fathers. As I thought about it, it's a good thing I stopped reading Chick Publications and Jesus-is-Savior. The conflict between the two pages should've already told me to stop reading both! I learned more about the church fathers from Grace to You and Ligonier Ministries. The first time I realized Martin Luther consulted Augustine of Hippo, was in the book The Gospel According to Jesus , by Dr. John F. MacArthur. The expression "righteousness of God" was like a thunderbolt in my heart… I hated Paul with all my heart when I read that the righteousness of God is revealed in the Gospel [Romans 1:16-17]. Only afterward, when I saw the words that follow–namely that it’s written that the righteous shall live through faith [Romans 1:17] – and in addition I consulted Augustine, I was cheered. W...

Ironically, Fulton J. Sheen Had Said Words That Would Describe the Papal Antichrist

Image
Isn't it ironic? Fulton J. Sheen, a Catholic priest , actually said this about the Antichrist: The Antichrist will come disguised as the great humanitarian. He will talk peace, prosperity, and plenty, not as a means to lead us to God, but as ends in themselves. He will explain guilt away psychologically, make men shrink in shame if their fellowmen say they are not broad-minded and liberal. He will spread the lie that men will never be better until they make society better. Protestant preacher J. Vernon McGee actually agrees on this 100%. Isn't this happening today? Roman Catholicism teaches another gospel, which isn't another (Galatians 1:6-9) .  Adding works to faith, it becomes "all about people" rather than Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam. The Jesuits may say, "For the greater glory of God," but their hearts are far from Him (Isaiah 29:11). Salvation has never been about ourselves, but by God's grace (Ephesians 2:8-10). It's saved for good works, not b...

Unconditional Election: The Bedrock of Assurance

Image
As a former non-Calvinist, I found the doctrine of Unconditional Election  to be cruel. Teaching that people have no free will on their own to believe sounds cruel. Saved people will have unsaved relatives. After many years of engaging in Free Willism, I really thought of this truth. Free will is a slave, especially when men are totally depraved . I read through John Piper's Solid Joys Devotional and decided to reflect once more on the doctrine of Unconditional Election. Is it a horrible doctrine or is it a wonderful doctrine? Upon realizing that an unsaved person's free will is accompanied by a dead spiritual compass, it's no longer a horrible doctrine. God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit. (2 Thessalonians 2:13) The Bible speaks of our election — God’s choosing us — in Christ before the foundation of the earth (Ephesians 1:4) before we had done anything good or evil (Romans 9:11). Therefore, our election is unconditional in th...

The Split Between Roman Catholicism (Mystery Babylon) and BIBLICAL CHRISTIANITY

Image
Here's a diagram by Jeremiah Knight of the Reformation Resurgence . Mystery Babylon claims to be the one true Church, dressed in purple and scarlet, carrying a golden cup in her head (symbols used in the Old Testament priesthood). However, she is a counterfeiter claiming to be in the one true Church. Can Roman Catholics explain how in the world can there be true Church now be leading the ecumenical movement ? The big split is because it's not biblical Christianity. Rome tries to twist the verses of the Old Testament, but do they understand it? Spiritual things are undiscernible by them! Now, time ot give this lesson by Knight himself: This is not the history of the Church. This is the corruption of it. What this timeline reveals is not Christianity’s evolution—but its hijacking. After centuries of Roman persecution against Christians, something changed—not in conviction, but in strategy. The persecutor put on robes, walked into the Church, and sat on its throne. When Constantin...
