Yesterday was January 3, 2026. More than 505 years ago, the great Martin Luther was finally excommunicated by the Papal Antichrist, Leo X. Luther refused to recant his just criticisms of the unbiblical foundations of indulgences and papal authority. When some Roman Catholics say, "Never ask a Protestant who is the founder of their church.", it's basically Ad Hominem.
Luther said the following:
I ask that men make no reference to my name; let them call themselves Christians, not Lutherans. What is Luther? After all, the doctrine is not mine... How then should I—poor, smelly carcass that I am—come to have the children of Christ named after my wretched name? Not so, my dear friends; let us abolish all party names and call ourselves Christians, after him whose doctrine we hold.
Luther was fighting not for himself but for the Church that was founded in 33 A.D. Mystery Babylon may have been around longer than Protestantism. However, many "essential" doctrines of Rome came out and were only "validated" after the Reformation. We can look into the following that took place after 1517, when Luther sparked the Reformation:
- 1545 A.D. The Council of Trent declared itself the final authority when it said, "Tradition is equal with Scripture!" instead of "Tradition must be subject to Scripture." It's their tradition, and they have rejected God's Word to keep their own tradition.
- 1546 A.D. The Apocryphal books are declared canonical only after centuries of debate. None of the early church fathers even endorsed them as inspired!
- 1854 A.D. This is even crazier that it took centuries after Luther died and even centuries after the true Church was founded in 33 A.D., to even defined after 1,821 years? How can I trust Rome to be the pillar and ground of the truth with this?!
- 1864 A.D. Pope Pius XI was proclaimed by Pius IX. It's helpful to have commentaries and the like. However, by declaring the syllabus as "infallible," then the problem is what if this syllabus is wrong and the Bible is right? This also includes freedom of religion.
- 1950 A.D. Pius XII declared the Assumption of Mary. This is even erroneous because it's already been how many centuries since Mary the mother of Jesus died.
- 1965 A.D. Under the Second Vatican Council, Paul VI declared Mary the mother of Jesus as the "mother of the church".
